Esoarc Studio's principals, Amy Carter, IIDA, LEED AP, and Pamela Gillen, AIA, bring decades of professional expertise, hands-on involvement and a result-oriented perspective. Our dedicated and equally experienced staff pride themselves in their work, the quality of their designs, and the service they provide our clients.

The firm is a certified Virginia Small Business (SWAM), a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) and is licensed to practice architecture in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania.

AMY Z. CARTER, IIDA, LEED AP

Amy Carter, principal of Esoarc Studio, has more than 19 years of experience in commercial interior design. She has worked on a full array of interior design projects; from working with property owners and property management companies to corporations, associations, non-profits and government clients. The size and complexity of the projects has been equally varied from 1,500 to 180,000 square feet over multiple floors; from open office to secure compartments. Ms. Carter has an expertise in space planning, interior design, and construction document production and construction administration. She also has a depth of knowledge in furniture specifications and selection.

Ms. Carter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

 

PAMELA GILLEN, AIA

Ms. Gillen’s 25+ year experience in architecture and project management is diverse; working on projects from mixed-use historical renovations to designing stores and cafes, from writing design criteria to designing office interiors. The majority of her expertise stems from years of working in the shopping and airport concession industry on complex projects like Washington National Airport Terminal B/C, Washington D.C. Union Station and St. Louis Union Station redevelopment. Over the recent years, she has worked on building renovations, office design, wayfinding signage as well continuing work in retail.

She brings a fresh colorful approach to her design work and problem-solving “can do” attitude to her work.

Ms. Gillen earned a B.A. in Urban Studies from Mount Holyoke College, a Master of Architecture from Rice University and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins University.
